French butter-cream celebration cakes from the Nadoz bakery will melt in your mouth! Seriously though, I know most people have their favorite bakery in town where they MUST order cakes from (MacArthur's, Federhofer's, Black Bear, The Cakery, The Sugaree, Dierberg's, Schnuck's, Straub's, etc.), but deviate for just a moment to order just one from the Nadoz Cafe bakery and you WILL NOT be disappointed! Located on the ground floor of the Coronado, across from SLU, most people know this European style eatery as a cafe with good sandwiches, salads, crepes, etc. I happened to go there for brunch a few years back and remembered the melt in your mouth desserts that I sampled. The dessert reminded me of old country bakeries in Belgium, where the recipes are hidden in family graves and the chocolate melts in your mouth. So, when it came time for me to impress my sister from Chicago and all of her posh, picky friends, I decided to take a risk and order her bridal shower cake from Nadoz. It was amazing! Everyone HAD TO KNOW where I got this cake. Not only was it absolutely beautiful, but it was melt in your mouth delish! We ordered half chocolate sponge soaked in raspberry syrup and half vanilla sponge soaked in lemon syrup. The icing was chocolate French butter cream, which is finer and smoother than the standard butter-cream frosting that you find in this part of the country. OMG it was great! It had so many layers with fruit filling in between. We ordered the round 10" and it looked classy. Give these guys a try when you're in the market for a celebration cake.
